Course Structure

Better Sailing consists of 7 sessions and is the transition program where MMYC Junior sailors will refresh and refine foundation skills they've learned in Start Sailing 1 & 2. This course gives the confidence to the junior in taking the next step to the MMYC Green Fleet program where Juniors and youth begin to really find their wings and love of sailing, the water, and being outdoors!

The Better Sailing program is 7 Sundays of fun in November & December!.

Session time is: 9am - 11.30am

How to Register

This program is for the graduates of Start Sailing 1 & 2 from Summer 2023.

This program is for MMYC club members.

* If you are not a member of a sailing club in Australia (you don't have an Australian Sailing Number), you'll first need to 'sign up' the participant for a temporary membership (known as a SailPass), and then login and register using the username and password you receive via email.

Link: Get a SailPass for this event.

This course has a minimum age of 7 and a maximum of 12 years.

Make sure you are using the participant's login details. Registrations won't work for anyone outside the age range. If you've forgotten login details, follow the 'forgot login details' and they will be emailed.

Fees

Registration Fee: $160, which includes:

  • Use of Club dinghies for the whole program
  • Club lifejackets
  • A Club t-shirt
  • The Australian Sailing Participant Course fee
  • Qualified instructors and assistants.

The Australian Sailing Course fee enables the young sailors to fully participate in the Australian Sailing programs, for their progress through the program to be followed, and for the attainment of recognition of the progress they have made. This also ensures that the numbers of participants at any time are appropriate for the level of supervision.

Once the program has commenced, the club will not be able to refund the course fee in the event that the sailor is unable to participate in the program.

There is a helpful handbook on the MMYC website where you can learn more about the club and its Junior & Youth Sail Training Program.
